CBD in Norway
CBD stands for cannabidiol, one of the main ingredients from the cannabis plant. CBD products are developed from industrial hemp and come in various forms. Although hemp and cannabis are in the same plant family, CBD oil for pain contains less than 0.3% THC – the part from the cannabis plant that gives you intoxication. More and more people on an international basis are using CBD in connection with pain and lifestyle changes.
CBD is currently not legal as a dietary supplement in Norway, but it is legal in several EU and EEA countries. This means that it will in all probability become legal in a short time in Norway.
This is what the Norwegian Medicines Agency says about CBD in Norway
Director of the Norwegian Medicines Agency, Steinar Madsen, stated the following to the journal Dagens Medisin in 2019: – Banning CBD supplements in Norway because it contains small amounts of THC, is a bit like saying that cultured milk is a drug because it contains a little alcohol. We are trying to clean up this now, and are working to find sensible rules in this area. It is not true that everything that contains the slightest trace of THC should be classified as narcotic, when it has no intoxicating effect. As CBD oil becomes much more potent when it also contains small amounts of THC, and it is difficult to produce pure CBD without traces of THC, it is gratifying to relax the rules in this area.
